I love you Amy Storms!
Oh wow, where do I start?! How about last week?..."Mommy, I would love sandals like that to match you!" Makenzie said, pointing to my sandals with a pretty little piece of fabric on them in between the toes. "Ok honey, I will make some for you!" and her response...my precious 5 year old was gut laughing while she said "you don't make things! Let's call Shayna!" (her big sis is rather crafty!)
And the SAME day last week...Makenzie lost a tooth! And we woke up the next AM to a very sad little girl sitting at our doorway in tears.."the tooth fairy didn't come!" So as I held her to comfort her with a knot in my stomach and an ache in my soul for yet another "mommy fail", Gary scrambled down stairs and "found" an envelope with gum and $5 in it in between some pillows!--The tooth fairy must have "accidentally" wedged it between the pillows..silly tooth fairy! ;) (And a generous, guilt filled tooth fairy over pays!) AND btw, later that day she asked if we were the tooth fairy...so the ache of guilt and the loss of $5 wasn't even worth it! Oh well, I felt bad indirectly lying to her all these months anyway about it, so this was God's gift to me...the truth set me free yet again! :) Not quite sure why we as parents have to set up "mascots" for our generosity anyway...seems rather foolish!--I want credit for the gifts I give my kids! HAHA!

There were times when my daughter was very young that I would forget to nurse her, then wondered why she was screaming at me! Chalk it up to sleepless nights!

I frequently do not notice that Grace's hair is not brushed until we arrive somewhere. If she happens to be in front of me, I notice the huge "bird's nest" on the back of her head. Check it out some time, you'll see it.

Amy, I'm sure I could think of atleast half a million things I didn't do right and I can tell you that it's not nearly as entertaining as what you have described above. When I read #5, I laughed until I almost peed my pants! And when I thought I was safe....#7! (Yes, just one more things my kids will love to know about me!) You are hilarious! I'll have to think hard on this and get back to you! Happy Mother's Day friend! =)

My daughter was in the third grade, I woke up and realized I had over slept. I got her up telling her she was going to be late to school. We both threw on our clothes and I rushed her to school. I let her out and I hurried back home. My phone rings and it is Laurie. "Mom there is no one at the school." "Oh honey how can that be?" "It is Saturday Mom."

After the baby was born, I conducted school from my bed probably two weeks longer than necessary. It was a good gig. Hard to give up!

Thank you for the laugh on Mother's Day, Amy! A few years ago, when our family was in a Dark Season, I may or may not have (OK, I did, and on more than one occasion) threatened to get in my car and drive off into the sunset if my family didn't stop fighting with each other (and expecting me to referee/judge/take sides). Of course, I'm still here...but it was a tempting fantasy for a while. Mom Fail.
